Lawson Equipment Potty Trowel - is not the lightest trowel on the market, but it’s very sturdy and still lightweight, reliable and works so good, that according to Lawson it can be used to dig holes to china, to excavate dinosaur bones, and to bury gas station burrito's.
It is made using Aerospace Grade 7075 T-6 Aluminum which is one of the strongest aluminum alloys made. This Alloy is commonly used to make Airplanes, Climbing Equipment, Bicycle Components and many Military Weapons. This alloy makes Lawson trowel so tough that you can stand on it to dig those big bulletproof holes you couldn't before. Lawson use a thicker grade of material compared to other "ultralight" trowels on the market to make it extra tough and so your hands will thankyou after digging a big hole. And to increase digging performance they thin the edges of the blade. The edges are not sharp, but the thinner profile of the "blade" helps you to dig in harder ground and cut through small fibrous roots.
Plastic, aluminum, or titanium? Not sure which shovel is the best pick for you? We’d argue that aluminum might be the best price-weight ratio. Metal backpacking shovels works much better at digging than plastic. The plastic trowels don't last long and break all the time and you have to buy new ones. Metal trowel will last you so long that you can pass it on to your grandchildren and still looks new after many uses.
If you know, that you want one, buying one you are supporting a cottage company.
