Jensen, co-founder of Ombraz, stumbled upon the innovative idea for their sunglasses during a camel safari in India when his sunglasses broke. Improvising with twine to secure them, he discovered that this makeshift solution was not only comfortable but also practical, allowing the sunglasses to stay securely in place without slipping. This simple yet effective design inspired the creation of Ombraz, which, after years of development, has become one of the most practical sunglasses brands in the industry.
Partnering with his college friend Nikolai, who had a strong e-commerce background, Jensen helped launch Ombraz from a barn loft in Bellevue, WA. After a successful Indiegogo campaign in 2018, raising $165,000 from 1,400 backers worldwide, the brand quickly gained recognition, winning Backpacker Magazine's 2019 Gear Editors' Choice Award. Ombraz's commitment to quality and sustainability is evident in their hands-on approach to production and their pledge to plant 20 mangrove trees for every pair sold, making them the most carbon-negative product on the market.
