Gorilla 50 Ultralight Backpack - is a new redesigned version with a lot of new features to maximize your comfort on trail: new patent-pending PVT Frame+Bel system, S-curve harness and load lifters carry your haul with even distribution.
Gorilla 50 is a top loading backpack with a total capacity of 50 liters (including extension collar), with 32 liters of space in the main compartment and the rest divided among the pack’s other pockets.
According to Outdoor Gear Lab’s Editor’s Choice it is the best mid-volume light backpack. Its versatility, durability and comfort make it the best weekend companion you’ll ever have. Also works on longer trips and through hikes with itineraries including grocery/laundry opportunities.
The main compartment features an internal hydration sleeve to hold a hydration pack with a hang loop at the top for securing it and two hydration ports located above both shoulder straps to let you route the drinking hose over either shoulder.
It is made of 70D & 100D Recycled Robic Nylon fabric PFAS-free. Robic fabric is waterproof and sheds water well in rain, but the backpack is not completely waterproof and leaks at the seams which are not sealed, so we recommend to use waterproof stuff sacks or line the pack with the plastic bag (use durable Nylofume pack liner) to protect your gear against rain and moisture.
Bodies aren’t one-size-fits-all. Everyone comes in different proportions and deserves to have gear that’s comfortable. That’s why Gossamer Gear offers PVT Hipbelt for Gorilla 50 in two different fits: straight and curved. Gorilla 50 also comes in multiple sizes for added customization.
Small packs includes a S/M Curved belt. Medium and Large packs include a M Straight Belt. In case you need another hipbelt you can find it here.
How to Attach Hiking Poles to Your Mariposa? For attaching trekking poles hiking poles, an umbrella or other gear to your pack you can use Lightrek Pack Bungee Attachment (sold separately).

How to Measure your Torso size and Hipbelt size
Torso length
Start at the C7 vertebra at the base of your neck. The best way to find this is to bend your neck and feel the first bump along the base of your neck. This bump is where you will want to start your measurement.
Next, you'll want to find the midpoint between your iliac crest. To find your iliac crest, cup your hipbones on both sides and find the center point on your spine. This midpoint is where your thumbs should be pointing.
Finally, you'll need help measuring from the C7 vertebra to your iliac crest. From there, you'll have your torso measurement.
BACKPACK SIZE | cm | inch | Generally fits people with height |
SMALL | 41 - 46 cm torso | 16" - 18" torso | 168 cm / 5'6" and under |
MEDIUM | 46 - 51 cm torso | 18" - 20" torso | 165 cm to 180 cm / 5'5" to 6'0" |
LARGE | 51 - 56 cm torso | 20" - 22" torso | 178 cm and up / 6'0" and up |
You will want to find your iliac crest again by cupping your hipbones on both sides. Then, wrap a soft measuring tape or string around the top of your iliac crest. This will tell you your hip measurement.
PVT HIPBELT | Hip Measurement in cm | Hip Measurement in inch |
S/M Curved Belt | 72.4 - 142 cm | 28.5"-56" |
M/L Curved Belt | 85.5 - 152.4 cm | 32.5"-60" |
S Straight Belt | 66 - 136 cm | 26"-53.5" |
M Straight Belt | 76 - 146 cm | 30"-57.5" |
L Straight Belt | 86 - 156 cm | 34"-61.5" |
