More info

Zpacks Pivot Duo Tent - is a spacious, fully featured two-person ultralight shelter designed to comfortably accommodate two hikers, two wide long sleeping pads, and their gear with room to spare. It’s also an excellent option for larger solo hikers who want to stretch out and keep their gear inside the tent.

Thanks to its unique shape and pole configuration, the Pivot Duo offers incredible livable space and flexibility — allowing hikers to sleep in either direction depending on the slope of the terrain. The generous interior makes it easy for two hikers to stretch out without touching the walls or ceiling.

Available in two different Dyneema® Composite Fabric canopy and floor weights:

"Lite" version features .55 oz/sqyd DCF canopy, .75 oz/sqyd DCF floor, and 1.3 mm guy lines.
"Standard" version .75 oz/sqyd DCF canopy, 1 oz/sqyd DCF floor, and 2mm guy lines.

Please note:
Pivot Duo tent has one 81 cm (32") pole included.

SET-UP

Tent sets up with a trekking pole or tent pole adjusted to around 132 cm (52") at the peak and one adjusted to 81 cm (32") at the right rear corner of the tent.
If you do not use trekking poles, we have tent poles available here.

The 52” pole is offset towards the head end of the tent creating a wide entryway with an L shaped zipper that drapes to help stop mosquitoes from chasing you into the tent. The offset pole also creates a steeper wall with additional head or foot room.

The 32” pole at the at the right rear corner of the tent further expands the internal volume of the Pivot Duo creating a tremendous amount of internal space. Taller hikers can have their head or feet right up against the screen wall without brushing condensation on the canopy. The second pole also helps brace the tent in the wind.

The tent package includes: guylines, sewn in linelocs, taped seams, and a Medium DCF Stuff Sack, 137 cm DCF repair tape strip and two spare zipper sliders, 81 cm (32'') tent pole with protective sling.
6 to 8 Stakes are required but are not included. You can buy them here.

TOTAL WEIGHT:
527 g / 18.6 oz including guy lines, sewn in linelocs, and taped seams (blue and olive tent, spruce green weighs 634 g / 22.4 oz)

MATERIAL:
.55 oz/sqyd (blue, olive),  .75 oz/sqyd (spruce green) Standard Dyneema® Composite Fabric

Dyneema® Composite Fabric has several advantages over other materials:

  • High strength to weight ratio – the material can handle high wind force and does not tear easily.
  • Chemical free, PFC free
  • Waterproof – there is no DWR or coating to worry about wearing out. The material will not absorb significant water that will add water weight to your pack
  • Stretch-free – the tent will stay taut all night. Nylon material by comparison can stretch and sag, especially if it gets wet.
  • Taped seams – our seams are sewn for strength then taped water tight. The tie outs have bonded reinforcements for high strength. No seam sealing will be necessary!
  • Easily repairable – Any damage can easily be fixed in the field with our Dyneema® Composite Fabric Repair Tape.
  • This tent is semi-transparent. In bright sunlight, a fuzzy silhouette of a person sitting inside the tent would be visible, but you cannot see any details. It has a suitable amount of privacy for changing clothes.
  • In lower light (such as in the evening or at night), you cannot see through at all. Another nice thing about this material is that you can see the outlines of trees and your surroundings for a more immersed outdoor experience.
  • Dyneema® Composite Fabric is not a particularly noisy fabric; however, almost any tent will make a little noise in the wind. Earplugs are not a bad idea for windy nights.

FEATURES
Storm doors on each side of the tent feature a convenient zipper entry, magnet toggles, and peak vents for air flow.
Store your shoes and backpack in either vestibule space or stand your pack upright in the spacious interior.
8 stakes are required for this tent. Stakes are not included but you can buy them here.
Fully enclosed ultralight insect netting keeps even the smallest insects out and adds ventilation around the perimeter.
Wide L shaped entryways on both sides of the tent create draping screen doors that help block mosquitos. The floor is pinned down by the poles for easy one handed zipper operation.
The bathtub floor has tall walls and is recessed from the perimeter to keep you protected from splash-up and condensation. In calm rain or under wet trees the doors can be left open for air flow without water dripping or falling into your living space.
The offset 52" poles combined with a 32" pole at the end of the tent creates steep walls for tons of head and foot room. Couples can sleep with their head and feet at either end depending on the slope of the ground or the wind direction. Your head or feet can be right up against the interior screen wall without brushing condensation.
The space will comfortably fit a pair of hikers up to about 1.95 meters (6' 5") tall. Even taller solo hikers can lay diagonally, or add a trekking pole cup and an additional 32" pole at the other end of the tent to boost the space further.
A compact footprint for a two person tent allows the Pivot Duo to squeeze into hard to find backcountry flat spots.
LineLoc V adjusters allow you to lock in the perfect pitch. Bright yellow Z-Line Guylines are easy to see day or night to avoid tripping.
The durable floor material does not require a separate groundsheet. Flat Groundsheets are an optional precaution.
Integrated mesh pockets allow you to stow small items like your headlamp, glasses, phone, or the tent stuff sack.
All zippers on the tent have been designed to allow the zippers sliders to easily be replaced in the field. Two replacement sliders are included with the tent. Zipper slider replacement instructions can be found here.
