BIG AGNES Copper Spur 2 Platinum - is one of the lightest freestanding two-person backpacking tent. The tent's trail weight is 1.05 kg / 37 oz and its packed weight is 1.19 kg / 42 oz.

Tent is comfortable and spacious and has a lot of storage space. It has four interior pockets, two on the ceiling and one on each side next to the doors. Each door of this tent has two zippers.

We recommend use footprint for this kind of ultralight tents or be careful using this tent with no groundsheet. Big Agnes footprint is also awesome for the Fast Fly setup (pitching just the fly using the footprint, poles, and stakes).

The tent has a streamlined interior with floor area 2.7 m² allowing it to house up to 2 or serve a as a spacious solo tent. The rainfly creates two vestibules in front of the large doors providing 2x 0.8 m² of exterior storage space. The tent body is constructed primarily of polyester mesh the rainfly and the floor are silicone treated nylon rip-stop with 1200 mm waterproof PU coating to bolster weather protection. This ultralightweight construction does sacrifice some durability and if you value that over the weight savings this may not be a tent for you. We do also strongly recommend use footprint for this kind of ultralight tents which is sold separately to add further protection beneath the floor of the tent.

The tent is truly freestanding, that means you can pitch the tent without using stakes and the tent's poles support the tent and stakes aren't necessary. Big Agnes also include 8 lightweight aluminium J stakes to ensure secure and taut pitch, but you should replace them by some lightweight titanium ones.

Platinum is for those who like the design of Copper Spur, but want lighter version. Compared to Copper Spur HV UL2 the Platinum uses the same DAC Featherlite NFL pole system and the fly and floor are still silicone-treated rip-stop nylon with 1200mm waterproof polyurethane coating. This Platinum version weighs about 200g less than Copper Spur, because the tent body has a lot more mesh and to make it lighter it uses ripstop nylon for the fly and floor (Copper Spur HV UL versions use a patterned ripstop nylon, which is 20% more durable, but heavier).

Copper Spur 2 Platinum is an interesting option for anyone looking to travel as light as possible while still having a little bit of elbow room and enjoying the benefits of a double wall design.
